Smart TV video on demand application

Brief

This application offers streaming videos from different content providers on users’ Smart TV and allows people to watch latest movies online at home and turn their TV into an online home theatre. The application supports video rentals and subscriptions, DRM for different content providers, child lock and multiple platforms including Opera based TVs (HbbTV), Samsung, Panasonic, etc.

Architecture

The system consists of

• TV application which communicates with a server via HTTP protocol
• web server for TV application with web services for reading the data feeds, user credentials check, etc.
• Content Providers Central – an application which allows content providers to manage their subscriptions, content, etc.
• PostgreSQL database
• client portal where users can register and manage their account data
